What happens in the 15 days before you approve a sample

A sample is not a bag made quickly. It is a bag made to check decisions — and most of the delay comes from decisions that weren't made before we started.

Days 1–2 · Pattern and materials

We turn your reference into a paper pattern and confirm the leather, lining, hardware and edge finish. This is where most revisions are avoided: if the hardware is wrong here, it will be wrong in the sample.

Days 3–6 · Cutting and stitching

The pattern is cut from the actual hide, not a substitute. Panels are skived, edges prepared, and the body is stitched. Stress points — handle roots, strap anchors — get reinforced here.

Days 7–10 · Hardware and finishing

Zips, buckles, feet and sliders are set, edges are painted or burnished, and the lining is closed. Hardware is load-tested on the finished bag, not on the component.

Days 11–15 · Review and revisions

We photograph the sample from every angle and send it with a spec sheet. You mark up what changes. Three rounds of revision are included; each round is typically 3–5 days, so a heavily revised sample can push approval to week four.

What we need from you

A reference image or sketch, the dimensions you want, your logo file (vector), and any colour or hardware direction. If you have a tech pack, send it — it removes a whole revision round.

The sampling fee is quoted per style and credited against the bulk order, so it effectively disappears once you produce.
